Matthew Williamson Recap
By Allison Daniels

Matthew Williamson’s show was easy my favorite. His beautifully impressionistic pastel-and-neon silk party dresses stole my heart. Their draping was a perfect contrast to the fitted, highly structured dark jackets Williamson paired them with. His coats and blouses featured oversized cowl-necks (the coat collars in fur and blouse collars in rosettes).

Williamson's neutrals of choice were white and heather gray with skinny royal blue belts to add a punch of color. He also showed solid blue cocktail dresses with asymmetrical additions in the trapeze style. My favorite piece of the collection was a silvery-lavender one-shoulder dress with draped, textured overlays on the skirt. His collection was dedicated to the refined woman – the woman who loves beauty but requires functionality in her life. And in my opinion, it was a decisive triumph.
